ELT is a hybrid between traditional training and coaching. ELT is designed to build fundamental skills in inexperienced and struggling leaders. The program is designed to enable leaders to assimilate their newly acquired tools and skills.
The hybrid approach is designed to maximize knowledge retention. In a study conducted by the Center for Creative Leadership it was found that a person only retains 10% of the knowledge they receive from classroom training. Knowledge retention goes up to 30% when delivered in a coaching/mentoring environment. By far the best way for a person to learn a new skill is on-the-job with 70% retention. The structure of ELT is designed to deliver a coaching / on-the-job format. With the desire of knowledge retention falling between 30% to 70%.
